Biography
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience since being licensed and almost 40 years of experience in social services, specifically in relation to children and families. I have worked as a Child Protection Investigator, Foster Care worker, and I also supervised these programs as well as the Family Services Unit and a specialized intensive family services unit, within the Department of Children and Family Services for the State of Louisiana. I have experience working with individuals with mental illness, both outpatient and inpatient. I was a part of the Louisiana Spirit Program which was established after Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, to provide trauma related counseling and therapy to individuals who were affected by these natural disasters. I was part of the children’s team in my area of the state, where we provided services in the home, at recreation centers, in the schools and libraries, to provide counseling to facilitate healing and to provide education regarding coping skills, as well as grief and loss counseling. I have worked in school based health clinics and in agencies providing individual, couples and family therapy. I have interacted with many other professions and agencies throughout my career; such as law enforcement, family court system and emergency medical professionals.
I am licensed as a Social Worker in Louisiana and Texas. I obtained my Masters of Social Work from Louisiana State University School of Social Work, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The healing journey can be a difficult road. To assist and support an individual on that journey takes someone who is authentic and genuine, someone who understands that there is inner turmoil and conflict, and takes someone who can provide a safe space for the healing to begin. Most of my career, I have been assisting individuals on that journey, and I’ve been on that journey myself. I am here to provide that safe space for your journey down that road.
