Biography

Hello! I'm Haley Langford M.Ed. LPC Associate and LCDC a highly dedicated professional with a diverse background and a sincere compassion to serving others. With 17 years of experience in the social services and criminal justice field I bring a wide variety of skills and unique approaches to the clients we serve.
I completed masters in counseling at Prairie View A&M and Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State. I have worked for a variety of agencies including Department of Family Services, The District Attorney Office Family Criminal Law Division, Wraparound Mental Health agencies that focus on behavioral and environmental challenges, and a local domestic violence organization. My career allowed me to work directly with clients of all backgrounds, age groups, socio economic statuses and cultures/races.
I spent several years working as a clinical manager for an inpatient detox for adults as well as an assessment specialist for an adolescent substance abuse inpatient rehab alongside an assessment specialist for an inpatient psychiatric hospital that takes patients 13 years and older. Throughout my 17 years I have specialized in trauma, behavior, substance abuse and grief. I learned in my career that mental health needs nor substance abuse struggles have no minimum age. I dedicated most of my career working with those who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, substance abuse issues, child loss and grief. With my own experience trying to find the right therapist to process my grief and loss of children I quickly became aware of the challenge many others may face and the difficulty in finding the right fit. So many "I am sorry but I don’t think I would be the right fit for you or I am sorry I do not have much experience with that, let me give you some resources." All I wanted was a "yes I can help you." I understood then why so many people shy away from trying to reach out. It is the fear of no and the fear of a wild goose chase, hoping for a positive result in the end. I have a true passion for helping people explore healing without judgement and no matter their background.
From early on prior to my education, I was passionate about forging a career in mental health, I knew I wanted to help people and work with people. I began working in the social services field at the age of 19 and soon saw how so many people do not believe they are deserving of healing. Some had no idea where to begin. For decades, the belief has been to struggle in silence rather than to confide in others. Now, times are changing and this is the perfect opportunity to start making our mental health and healing a priority. This will look different for everyone. It can be learning ways to help with managing current stressors, process the loss of a loved one, fertility struggles, substance abuse challenges, understanding your symptoms, preparing for major life transitions, or processing trauma, counseling can benefit you. Being that I have walked in the shoes of someone wanting and needing counseling, I take my experience and assure to create a level of comfort, safety and understanding before the work begins. My approach and style is tailored to each individual and their needs. I believe the power of the therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for change, and with that I want to foster a safe environment that allows you the freedom of self-exploration without fear of judgement as you explore healing. Your experiences are uniquely yours, and therefore you are the expert on you and my role is to provide support. I want to see the world from your perspective. We will explore your stressors, thoughts, and emotions to find connections. We will highlight and embrace your strengths while building up the coping skills in your toolbox.
